Re: complete newbie to tsre5
Hi Amtrak I don't know anything about the "set position/rotation to terrain". I don't even know where to find them. Place your first piece of track and rotate it to the correct direction using the "R" key followed by number 4 or 6 . While the track is selected press "F"...

Re: Terrain Offset to Track
Try looking at the terrain you have shown in your pictures with "Terrain Grid" checked. You can find this in the View menu. The terrain is divided into triangles and it may be that the edge of the triangles will run along the angle between the flat terrain under the track and the steep emb...

Re: Help with HGT Data
The second image looks to me that the camera is below ground level.
The squares at the top are the ground from below, the vertical lines at the bottom are the cliff face where the newly entered tile drops to the original tile beyond.
Try moving the camera up.

Re: Wire Frame Mode? (And Tunnels)
My tunneling method is very different. I make a copy of the tiles folder. Then each piece of track I lay I press F to mould the terrain to the track, turning the tunnel into a cutting. I can follow the track path on a map overlay, and when I get to the far end of the tunnel I can check the height, t...

Re: TSRE Shape Viewer: General discussion.
There is a current program called "shape viewer" which I use for editing the .sd file.
It gives bounding box values so that the blue outline when the object is selected fits around the object.

Re: Mesh Painting - Seasonal ?
A problem that I see with seasonal textures is ensuring that the snow and the standard texture have the same file name. It would be possible to swap the terrtex and terrtex/snow folders and edit the snow textures, but would the files names end up being the same? A way round this in the short tern is...

Re: Perfomrance issues with version 6970 and 6971
I am using v0.697 and have my route loaded. I am on a tile with 5594 objects on it. I have looked at "Task Manager" and it says that TSRE is using 26% of CPU and 222MB of memory. Google Chrome is using 511MB of memory. I am not sure if this is the way to assess resource usage. I can say th...

I agree that it can be difficult to see which way the pyramid is pointing.
Would it be easy to change it to a flat red triangle?

Re: Distant Mountains
When I click the "Generate tiles using MKR/TDB" buttons, I get a totally flat tile generated at zero altitude. Then I click "Load Height" button, and click on the tile, a new Tile window opens, and I click the header "Load". Finally I close this window and the height is...
